Did Nonprofits Score a Touchdown in Superbowl XLVII?

I’m writing this at the start of the power outage at Superbowl XLVII! My goal the past few days has been simple: to find the cause in this year’s Superbowl!

Jeep, USO Team up for Whole Again

The best ad of the night has been Jeep’s “Whole Again” in support of our troops. While the ad didn’t specifically mention the USO, a nonprofit organization that provides programs, services and live entertainment to United States troops and their families, its logo appeared next to Jeep’s at the end. The ad is part of Jeep’s Operation SAFE Return program, which is four point effort to support the troops.

SAFE is an acronym for:

Secure Transport

A provision of Jeep vehicles to be utilized at USO centers for the transport of troops and supplies as needed.

Aid for Transition

As troops arrive home from deployment, the Jeep brand will assist in their reintegration process through a veteran employment initiative as well as a military incentive toward the purchase of a Jeep vehicle.

Freedom Adventures

Through homecoming celebrations as well as other lighthearted engagements, the Jeep® brand will provide a much needed hiatus
for our troops.

Enduring Care

Support for the USO continuum of care to assist the wounded, ill and injured troops as well as their families and caregivers in achieving a full and rewarding life.

I haven’t seen any ads tonight that got my attention like Jeep’s did. The voice you’ll hear is Oprah’s. But will you recognize the music? It’s from the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers, which chronicles Easy Company’s drive across Europe during World War II. Powerful stuff.

Here are a couple of other nice cause marketing efforts connected with the Superbowl.

StubHub Supports Roots of Music in Watch-to-Give Promotion

StubHub’s is giving $1 for each view of this video until midnight – which is probably when this Superbowl will end because of the power outage! Proceeds will benefit the Roots of Music, which brings music education to disadvantaged children in New Orleans, the host city of Superbowl XLVII. As of 10pm, the video had 43,323 views.

Pedigree Supports Shelter Dogs During Puppy Bowl IX

The Superbowl isn’t the only bowl game on tonight! If you’re like me, you tuned into the Puppy Bowl IX! What a game! During a break Pedigree ran this ad called Shelter Dogs. Pedigree donates food to shelters to keep dogs healthy, increasing the chances they’ll be adopted by a lucky family.

I’ve capture all the cause-related campaigns I could find the past few days on this Pinterest page.

What cause-ads did you like tonight?
